Yaksha Dashami

Mumbai – September 21, 2025: From September 12 to September 21, 2025, the atmosphere at Billawa Bhavan was electric as the community gathered to celebrate a monumental milestone: the 80th anniversary of the Shree Guru Narayana Yakshagana Mandali. The ten-day cultural festival, aptly named Yaksha Dashami, was a resounding success, a vibrant tribute to decades of preserving and promoting the magnificent art form of Yakshagana. Organized by the Cultural Sub-Committee and led with passion and dedication by the Committee's Chairman Naveen Poojary, Padu Inna, the event showcased the rich heritage of the Mandali. This spectacular celebration could not have reached its heights without the strong support and commitment of President Harish G. Amin, whose leadership ensured the smooth and spirited execution of the entire program. Yaksha Dashami was more than just a performance series; it was a powerful statement on the enduring legacy of the Mandali and the community’s devotion to this unique art form. The concluding day of Yaksha Dashami proved to be the grand finale the milestone deserved. The evening was a mesmerising spectacle, graced by a galaxy of dignitaries who had come to pay their respects to the Mandali's eight decades of service to culture. The "crown in the jewel" of the evening was the presence of Vidushi Diksha. This celebrated artist recently created a Golden Book of World Record with her incredible, marathon dance performance lasting 216 hours. Her attendance underscored the importance of the arts and the dedication required to achieve such extraordinary feats, serving as a powerful inspiration to all attendees and performers. The successful completion of Yaksha Dashami not only honored the Mandali’s past but also paved the way for a future where the dynamic art of Yakshagana continues to thrive. Note: The Shree Guru Narayana Yakshagana Mandali is a non-profit cultural organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the traditional theatrical art of Yakshagana. Your support helps ensure this vibrant tradition continues for generations to come.
