24th January 2026
Ninety-three years have passed since the founding of Billawar Association Mumbai, one of the most respected social organisations in Mumbai. The 94th Foundation Day was celebrated on 24 January 2026 with great joy, dignity, and religious reverence.
The programme began with the garlanding of Guru Narayana Swami’s idol and the garlanding of the portrait of the twin heroes Koti and Chennaya. This was followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and a meaningful stage programme. The spiritual beginning reflected the Association’s values of unity, devotion, and respect for heritage.
This day was especially memorable as it marked the completion of five successful years of President Shri Harish G. Amin, who assumed office in 2021. To honour his dedicated service and leadership, the Association felicitated Shri Harish G. Amin. A cake-cutting ceremony was held to celebrate this important milestone.
The Billawar Association Mumbai was founded in 1932 by Shri M. Appanna. It was formed by the merger of four organisations—Shri Gokarnanath Kshetra Samiti, Billawara Hitavardhaka Sangha, Billawara Youth League and Barkur Billawa Charity Sangha. In 2020, the Billawa Jagruti Balaga merged with the Association by dedicating all its earnings, surplus funds, and movable assets. This act strongly proved that all Billawaras are united as one family.
The Billawa Bhavan at Santacruz East stands as a proud symbol of the sacrifices made by the elders of the Association. It represents the unity, strength, and solidarity of the Billawar community in Mumbai.
Over the past 94 years, the Association has grown under the leadership of 26 Presidents. This progress would not have been possible without the selfless service of Executive Committee members and office bearers from the 22 local offices. Despite many challenges over the decades, the Association has continued to grow stronger. Among the many community organisations in Mumbai, Billawar Association Mumbai stands apart with one of the highest membership records, reflecting the trust and support of its members.
During the programme, Treasurer Shri Ravi Sanil welcomed the guests, while Joint Secretary Shri Keshav K. Kotian delivered the keynote address. They highlighted the Association’s journey, achievements, and vision for the future.
The 94th Foundation Day celebration was a proud reminder of the Association’s glorious past, vibrant present, and promising future. With strong leadership, unity among members, and a commitment to social service, Billawar Association Mumbai continues to move forward with confidence and purpose.
